Indian equity markets surged on Thursday following strong global peers. The Sensex ended almost 1,000 points higher at 33,717 and the Nifty closed the day at 9,859 after surging over 3.2%. Tata Motors, UPL, ONGC, Vedanta, Hindalco were the top five Nifty movers. Whereas, Sun Pharma, HUL, Cipla, IndusInd Bank and ITC were the top losers. The rupee surged 57 paise to close at 75.09 against the US dollar.
