Much to the horror of locals, a river in Russia has changed its colour to beetroot red due to a mysterious pollutant, the Daily Mail has reported.
Iskitimka River is just one among many in the country that have undergone a discolouration. Ducks and other animals have refused to enter the red-coloured water, photos of which have gone viral on social media.
According to local reports, the change in water colour is due to a blocked drain. However it is still unclear what caused the discolouration and whether it is hazardous to human health.
