In a setback to Maharashtra govt, Supreme Court has struck down its notification to implement 10% reservation for economically weaker section in the ongoing admissions for PG medical courses. The court said that admissions of EWS students under general category will be void as the process began before the 103rd Constitutional amendment providing for 10% quota for poor was passed. The court has said the existing seats cannot be subjected to the EWS reservation amendment unless additional seats are created by Medical Council of India
