The Supreme Court stayed a Gujarat High Court order to mandate community services to people who violate Covid-19 guidelines on Thursday. The Gujarat government had challenged the High Court order in the Apex Court. A division bench of the Gujarat High Court on Wednesday ordered the government to 'come out with a notification' mandating community service for those violating Covid safety protocols, including face covering and social distancing. The HC had said the service duty should be non-medical in nature like cleaning, housekeeping, cooking and serving food, data feeding etc. for a period of 5-15 days for at least 4-6 hours a day.
