It's not often that despite a win, the heart goes out to the losing side, but that's exactly what happened on Monday night. Punjab Kings avoided a scare as they beat Rajasthan Royals by 4 runs, that after Sanju Samson's 119-run knock went in vain. Put into bat, Punjab were powered to 221/6, courtesy KL Rahul's 50-ball-91. Chasing which the Royals were reduced to 70/3 with Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler back in the hut. That's when Samson got going and became the first ever player to mash a century on captaincy debut in IPL. His 3rd IPL ton though couldn't take his side over the finish line as he was dismissed off the last ball. Samson's 119 is the highest score in a losing cause in IPL.
