So Tesla is green but some of the other manufacturers are getting greener. But casting a shade of grey on the ratings is also Tesla's treatment of worker says the global index creator.

Month after announcing the disappointing subscriber growth slowdown in more than a decade, Netflix lays off about 150 employees. The cuts represent 2 per cent of the streamer’s total workforce, with most of the cuts made in the United States.

So, now the question arises, if he already knew about the problem of bots -- and Twitter has always said the real number could be higher even though their best estimate calculated it to be sub-5 percent&nbsp;-- then why didn't the eccentric billion do the due diligence before announcing the deal.

We must also look at the deal offer which was made at $54.20 per share. Since then the prices of tech companies have corrected sharply and hence a $54 per share seems like a significantly premium offer for a share that has already been trading at $38.

The unicorn story is changing from hiring to firing. Somehow the startup bubble has burst and it’s the employees caught in the fallout as ever.Lately, well-funded startups are firing thousands of employees. Here's the list of startups that laid-off employees in 2022: 
Meesho, the e-commerce platform has laid off nearly 150 employees, mostly from its grocery division superstore called Farmiso, as it reportedly plans to merge its online grocery vertical with the main app. 
Meesho isn’t alone. US-based digital mortgage lender Better.com badly botched mass layoffs twice. On December 1, CEO and co-founder Vishal Garg laid off 900 employees via a Zoom call, and made headlines for being cold and insensitive. In March, the company laid off 3,000 of its remaining 9,000 employees in the US and India. 
Back to home again, Unacademy- which saw revenues going up around six times in 2021, laid off nearly 600 employees, contractual workers and educators — about 10 per cent of its 6,000-strong workforce across the group.
Furlenco, the furniture rental startup in March laid off nearly 180-200 employees, mostly from the customer support roles and in the same month, another social commerce platform, Trell asked nearly 300 employees to go, which is close to half of its workforce.
In a nightmare for nearly 1,000 employees, homegrown edtech startup Lido Learning which is backed by top entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala, apparently shut operations in February, forcing its workforce to seek help via social media platforms. 
Edtech unicorn Vedantu has laid off around 200 employees, a mix of both full-time and contracted employees. 
This is not all. Food and grocery delivery platform Swiggy said it will suspend operations of its subscription-based delivery service, Supr Daily, in five cities, as it is yet to demonstrate profitability. 
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, for instance, said it will slow down hiring and cut down on marketing and incentive spending to address a “seismic shift” in investor sentiment.

As 2020 and 2021 were all about exuberance, record&nbsp;fundraising and unicorns being minted every other week, 2022 has kickstarted on a different road which seems to have of speed bumps along the way.&nbsp;

Crippling sanctions imposed on Russia by the US and other western nations are already showing an impact on the global economy, with rising energy & commodity prices and supply chains hit. 
While the West has signalled a clear decoupling from Moscow, should India brace for impact? Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's visit to the United States this week allayed some fears.
The trip comes close on the heels of the US-India 2+2 dialogue held earlier this month, and is well-timed to steer the bilateral trade relationship between the two nations, in a favourable direction.
Nirmala Sitharaman's agenda is packed. A meeting with the IMF Managing Director; followed by bilateral meetings with Indonesia, South Korea, Sri Lanka; a meeting with World Bank president David Malpass; meetings with US CEOs from the semiconductor, energy and other priority sectors; an address at the Atlantic Council; and, an interaction with the faculty and students of Stanford University.
Things seem to be going well. International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has lauded India for its well-targeted policy mix to keep the economy resilient. She also praised India’s commitment to support economic growth through capital expenditure.
Although there was some discomfort over India buying discounted oil from Russia to meet its energy needs, the US has not set a "red line".
After the US and China, India is the world's third-largest consumer of oil, over 80% of which is imported.  In 2021, India bought about 12 million barrels of Urals oil from Russia, around 2% of its total imports.
However, since February, India's oil imports from the US have gone up significantly, which is good news for India-US ties. According to officials, India's oil imports from the US are expected to rise by 11% amid criticism over Russia. 
The partnership between the world’s two largest democracies and free-market societies has shown impressive gains. The United States is India's largest trading partner with bilateral trade between the two nations at $113.6bn in 2019-20. India's exports to the US stood at $51.62 bn in 2020-21, while India's imports from the US were about $28.9 bn in 2020-21.
China’s assertiveness is another major reason why both India and the United States seem to be aligned in their economic and trade strategies. Despite divergences on Russia, the US and India understand that ceding the Indo-Pacific region to China may have irreversible consequences.
Therefore, the first step in cementing those ties was to restart the Trade Policy Forum or TPF after a gap of 4 years. US trade representative Katherine Tai met Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in Delhi last November, to discuss “the full range” of issues affecting their trade relationship.
The Biden administration is also shaping up the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework or IPEF, to economically re-engage with the region, with India taking the lead.
The IPEF will set the US agenda, with a focus on 4 pillars: fair and resilient trade; infrastructure, clean energy, and decarbonization; supply chain resiliency; and tax and anti-corruption. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has called it ‘a fantastic thought’ which will further bolster India-US ties.
“It is a very innovative way of engaging with countries in that region--Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand. PM Modi is looking at it and we will take a considered view. It will bring new traction to the relationship", said the Finance Minister.
Washington understands that India is an important trading partner, so expanding the mandate of the Quad may be another way to shape the regional economic order to counter China’s influence.
Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, represent four of the largest and strongest economies that should be involved in setting the rules of the game, via a trade working group.
Experts have also argued that a bilateral free trade agreement could be the next frontier in the US-India relationship. Simply because it is not sustainable for the world's two largest economies to not have a trade architecture in place between them, and be outside of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. 
Washington & New Delhi are now looking to take bold strides, to show that democracies can deliver.  $500bn in bilateral trade between the two countries, seems like an achievable target. This will position the US-India partnership as a force to reckon with, and provide impetus for global growth.

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday said that the sale of 74 lakh shares of fugitive Vijay Mallya's stake in United Breweries Holding Limited fetched ₹1,008 crore. Heineken International which is the largest stakeholder in the domestic liquor firm raised its stake by 2.8% to 46.53% after acquiring the shares. The move came after a special PMLA court allowed the sale of shares keeping in mind the large NPAs of the SBI-led consortium against Kingfisher Airlines and Mallya.

The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress coalition government in Maharashtra reduced VAT by Rs 2.08 per litre on petrol, and Rs 1.44 per litre on diesel.
The Congress government in Rajasthan announced slashing of VAT by Rs 2.48 per litre on petrol, and Rs 1.16 per litre on diesel.
Meanwhile, the Left government in Kerala had announced a price cut just hours after the Union government's declaration on May 21. Kerala reduced tax by Rs 2.41 per litre on petrol, and Rs 1.36 per litre on diesel.
Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman had put the onus on states after announcing the excise duty relief. The move came as retail inflation hit an 8-year high in India.

This reverses all the price hikes on LPG cylinders since 2021. Since April 2021, prices had risen by Rs 193.5 per cylinder.Fertilizer subsidy boostedFarmers were facing severe pressure as fertilizer prices surged due to the war in Ukraine and had appealed for relief which the govt is delivering with a boost in fertilizer subsidy. The FM tweeted that  in addition to the fertilizer subsidy of ₹ 1.05 lakh crore in the budget, an additional amount of ₹ 1.10 lakh crore is being provided to further cushion the farmers.

Diesel and petrol prices slashed in a big relief to the common man as the Modi government cut excise duty on fuel. India dialled into the next generation calling system as Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw&nbsp; made the first <a href="https://www.editorji.com/business-news/first-ever-5g-call-telecom-minister-dials-in-1653015578745" target="_blank">5G call</a> on a trial network set up at IIT Madras using indigenously-developed telecom gears.
"Aatmanirbhar 5G. Successfully tested 5G call at IIT Madras. Entire end-to-end network is designed and developed in India," Vaishnaw said in a social media post.
The telecom minister, after making a video call on indigenously developed <a href="https://www.editorji.com/business-news/canada-bans-chinese-telecom-giant-huawei-zte-from-5g-network-1653012922195" target="_blank">5G technology</a> gears, said that it is the realisation of the prime minister's vision.
"His (PM's) vision is to have our own 4G, 5G technology stack, developed in India, made in India and made for the world. We have to win the world with this entire technology stack," Vaishnaw said after making the call.
The government expects commercial roll-out of 5G services to start in the country by August-September this year.At present, telecom companies have been allowed to only conduct trial of 5G services.
The&nbsp;5G test-bed has been developed as a multi-institute collaborative project by eight institutes led by IIT Madras.In the absence of a 5G test-bed, startups and other industry players were required to go abroad to test and validate their products for installation in a 5G network.
