The rupee rallied 48 paise in afternoon trade to 73.82 against the US dollar on Thursday after RBI Governor assured that there is enough power left with the central bank to deal with the current economic situation caused by the pandemic. In morning trade on Thursday, the domestic currency had touched 74.36 against the greenback. Yields on the 10-year benchmark government bonds also fell five basis points to 6.14% right after the governor's comments. The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, slipped 11 basis points to 92.88.
