England captain Joe Root has opted out of the first Test vs the Windies to attend the birth of his second child. Root left his side's pre-series training camp at the Ageas Bowl on Wednesday to be with his wife who is expected to give birth in the first week of July. Root will also not be a part of the practice game starting July 2. In his absence, Ben Stokes will lead the 3 Lions for the first time with Jos Buttler expected to take up vice-captaincy duties. Root is likely to return for the 2nd Test starting July 13 at the Old Trafford but will have to isolate himself at home for 7 days before joining the England squad. 1st Test of the 3-match series starts from July 8 in Southampton.
