At least 10 rockets landed at Ain al-Asad airbase in the western Iraqi province of Anbar, according to the Iraqi military and the US-led coalition forces. The rockets struck the airbase, which hosts US, coalition and Iraqi forces on Wednesday, spokesman for the US-led coalition forces said. Pentagon confirmed that the attack killed a US contractor. The contractor “suffered a cardiac episode while sheltering” and died shortly afterward. The rocket attack comes two days before Pope Francis is due to visit the country.
