Collins Aerospace in Charlotte, North Carolina is celebrating its 20th anniversary of supporting Introduce a Girl to Engineering day, hosting more than 55 events in 13 countries.
Katie Cody with Collins Aerospace says that statistics show that girls begin to lose interest in STEM around the age of 10, and only 20% of bachelor's degrees awarded go to women. And in the workforce, only 13% of engineers are women.
One of the highlights this year is Time Magazine Kid of the Year, Gitanjali Rao, who conducted a virtual innovation workshop for girls around the world. NASA on Twitter wrote, 'Today on #IntroduceAGirlToEngineeringDay, we encourage all girls who are curious about how things work to pursue a career in engineering.'
