Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg on Friday tweeted in support of 22 year old activist from Bengaluru, Disha Ravi, who has been sent to jail for three days by Delhi's Patiala House court in the farmers’ protest toolkit case.
Backing the Fridays for Future (FFF) India founder, Greta broke her silence on Disha's arrest in a tweet. Greta wrote, freedom of speech and the right to peaceful protest are 'non-negotiable human rights', and they are a fundamental part of every democracy.
Greta's tweet comes 5 days after Disha Ravi's arrest. Fridays For Future India, the handle Greta tagged also tweeted to say, they would 'raise their voices peacefully and respectfully for those at stake, to ensure justice for everyone'.
Disha Ravi is in jail for alleged sedition and other charges for editing a "toolkit" that the police claim was used to conspire against the country over the protest by farmers against new agriculture laws.
