Manchester City extended their unbeaten home run in the Premier League to 38 games against promoted sides as they beat Sheffield United 2-0 on Sunday night but their victory was a controversial one. The visitors were upset after Sergio Aguero's goal was allowed to stand after the referee got into the way of a pass which led to City open their scoring soon after the 1st half. Kevin de Bruyne then sealed the game in the 82nd minute, handing Sheffield United their first away defeat in any competition since January.
