Indian tech firm launches Say Namaste video conferencing software

Apr 28, 2020 18:36 IST

Mumbai-based tech firm Inscripts has launched Say Namaste, a video conferencing software to take on the likes of Zoom. The Indian government had recently called on tech companies in India to develop an alternative to Zoom, since the platform has been riddled with security issues ever since its growing popularity amid work from home orders due to the Covid-19 lockdown. The makers say they have so far offered Say Namaste to enterprise customers, and are now busy scaling it to meet growing public demand. On the security front, the firm says it doesn't collect any data apart from a users IP address, only for the duration of a call, after which it is not stored on any servers. AES 256-bit encryption and TLS encryption are being used as well. Say Namaste is also participating in the Indian government's recently announced challenge to Indian tech firms to develop an alternative to Zoom, with the winner being awarded a ₹1 crore prize.
