RBI list: Cong seeks 'simple answers' from finance minister

Apr 29, 2020 20:01 IST

After Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman's 13 tweet rebuttal to Rahul Gandhi over the subject of "wilful defaulters", the Congress has launched an attack on the Centre again. Taking to twitter, Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said to misstate facts while in office is most unfair while proceeding to point out that the finance Minister had said Rs 2,780.50 crore had been recovered from Modi-Choksi-Mallya, however on March 16, 2020, parliament was told that the Enforcement Directorate had recovered only Rs 96.93 crore. In a series of tweets Surjewala then posed 4 question to Sitharaman, that needed 'simple answers' - why the centre had written off loans worth Rs 6,66,000 crore in 5 years, is RBI's RTI on bank loans write off of Rs 68,607 crore correct? Why the government was writing off bank loans of absconders and fraudsters like Nirav Modi, and Mehul Choksi, and who permitted such huge write offs of bank loans and defaulters and why?
