As Indian Railways suspended services of its passenger trains from the 22nd of March, its parcel van services, carrying perishable items, mostly daily essentials like vegetables and dairy items, were also suspended. However, authorities have now decided to run special 'parcel Express Trains' to provide continuous supply of essential goods in various local markets. These trains will run on routes including New Delhi-Guwahati, New Delhi-Mumbai, and New Delhi-Kalyan among others, and will also help in nationwide transportation of medical equipment and medicines.
