As criticism around Indian Railways' handling of special migrant train grows, the Railway Board on Friday held a press conference stating steps taken my them to ensure migrants reach home. Vinod Yadav, the Chairman of the Board said that the origination stations are providing free food and water for the migrants at the stations and Railways along with NGOs are doing the same for the duration of the journey. He also said that the special trains will continue to run till all migrants reach their destinations. Railways is ferrying close to 3 lakh migrants every day and demand for trains is decreasing over time, Yadav added. The Railways has appeal to people with co-morbidties, preganant women, senior citizens and children below 10 years to avoid travel.
