Radio-collared tiger walks over 1300 km in India

Dec 03, 2019 11:39 IST

A radio-collared tiger in India, walked over 1300 km, from Tipeshwar Sanctuary in Yavatmal in Maharashtra to the Dnyanganga Sanctuary in Buldana. The big cat covered the distance in about 5 months, possibly in search of a mate or prey or a new territory. Called C1, the tiger travelled through seven districts in Maharashtra and Telangana and on its journey even accidentally injured one man! Officials introduced radio collars to track tigers and undertake wildlife conservation initiatives.
