Volkswagen has revealed the production-spec version of the Taigun compact SUV, ahead of its launch later this year. The new offering is based on the MQB A0 IN platform specifically developed for India, and the prototype was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Compared to that version, the production-spec Taigun remains identical with the chrome-induced grille, boxy proportions, and the single-bar LED brake lamp. The design language remains very much intact in the automaker’s family. Volkswagen will also have A GT variant of the Taigun that gets plush upgrades like the red brake calipers, more chrome and the addition of new features on the inside. The Taigun will come with the 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol with 113 bhp and the 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine with 148 bhp on offer. The cabin design though remains under wraps. The Volkswagen Taigun will go on sale by early October and prices are likely to start from Rs. 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
