An initial probe by federal aviation safety officials details the final moments before Los Angeles basketball legend Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, and the seven others perished in a helicopter crash. The report says the pilot had tried to climb out of a layer of clouds, but the aircraft banked sharply and lurched toward the ground. The chopper then slammed into a hillside 60 seconds later and burst into flames. Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) estimated Bryant's luxury passenger helicopter hit the ground at a speed of more than 2,000 feet per minute. Investigators have however offered no explanation for what might have led the aircraft to bank abruptly to one side and then plummet to the ground.
