Post Nirav scam, National Anthem must at PNB AGMs

Wracked by the Nirav Modi scam, state-owned Punjab National Bank has decided that the national anthem will be sung at every Annual General Meeting and Extraordinary General Meeting, the Indian Express reported. This idea was proposed by a shareholder of the bank at its last AGM and was approved by PNB’s Non-Executive Chairman, the report said. The Securities and Exchange Board of India and Reserve Bank of India rules do not require companies or banks to play the national anthem at AGMs and EGMs, which are held usually to seek shareholders’ approval on key decisions.
