India on Thursday rescheduled the National Immunisation Day, under which polio drops are administered to all children under the age of 5, to January 31 amid countrywide rollout of Covid-19 vaccination drive on January 16. The Health Ministry said, in view of this world's largest Covid-19 immunisation exercise, the govt decided to reschedule the Polio vaccination day. On Saturday, the government is expecting to administer at least the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to all healthcare workers, estimated at one crore, over the next two months and start with frontline workers too.

The Gorakhpur police said they have recovered ₹ 19 lakh in cash; gold and silver worth ₹ 16 lakh and a car used in the crime. Two informants who helped the policemen track the jeweller before making their move have also been arrested, the Gorakhpur police said.

Protesting farmer unions on Thursday rejected the government's proposal to suspend three farm laws for 18 months. The unions said they want nothing but a complete repeal of all the contentious legislations.
"In a full general body meeting of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha today, the proposal put forth by the government yesterday, was rejected. A full repeal of three central farm acts and enacting a legislation for remunerative MSP for all farmers were reiterated as the pending demands of the movement," Samkyukt Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of protesting unions, said in a statement.
The government, during their tenth round of negotiation with the agitating farmer leaders on Wednesday, proposed to suspend the three farm laws for 1-1.5 years and set up a joint committee to find an amicable solution in the interest of the farming community.
The two sides will meet again on Friday.

The school principals are expected to make all immediate arrangements for proper power supply with power points at the proposed installation locations.
The cost of these will be borne by the schools from Vidyalaya Kalyan Samiti funds or grant in aids, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has said in a letter.
