Prime minister Narendra Modi on Saturday visited the Zydus Cadilla plant in Ahmedabad and then the Bharat BioTech facility in Hyderabad as part of his 3-city tour to personally review the Covid vaccine development in the country. Zydus Cadilla is testing its Covid vaccine ZyCoV-D, which is the second phase of trials. Hyderabad-based Bharat BioTech is working on Covaxin. Later in the day, the PM is also scheduled to visit the Serum Institute of India in Pune, which has partnered with global pharma giant AstraZeneca and the Oxford University for a Covid vaccine.
