Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday landed in Leh on a surprise visit to review the situation on LAC amid tensions with China. PM is accompanied with Chief Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat and Army Chief Gen MM Naravane. PM Modi visited the forward locations in Nimu area of Ladakh and interacted with personnel of Army, Air Force & ITBP. Located at 11,000 feet, this is among the tough terrains, surrounded by Zanskar range and on the banks of the Indus. PM Modi’s visit to the border area is high on symbolism, and a morale booster for the troops engaged in a stand-off with the Chimese in Galwan valley and around Pangong lake.
