Tweeting a picture of himself getting the vaccine, the PM said that vaccination is among the few ways we have, to defeat the virus. "If you are eligible for the vaccine, get your shot soon," the PM appealed after getting the vaccine.
The PM has been administered the homegrown&nbsp;Covaxin&nbsp;developed by Bharat&nbsp;BioTech.&nbsp;The Prime Minister had received his <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/pm-modi-gets-first-dose-of-covid-19-vaccine-tweets-pic-appeal-1614563764817" target="_blank">first shot of Covid-19 vaccine</a> on March 1.

"If you are eligible for the vaccine, get your shot soon," the PM appealed after getting the vaccine. The PM has been administered the homegrown Covaxin developed by Bharat BioTech. India's overall tally reached 13.53 million, surpassing Brazil's 13.45 million cases, according to data compiled by Reuters. The United States led the global tally with 31.2 million cases. Deaths in India stood at 904, taking the total to 170,179, data showed. The new wave, known to have increased transmissibility, has decreased the recovery rate of the country which currently stands at over 90 per cent.

According to the Ministry of Health, as on Friday morning, there are 1,18,46,652 confirmed coronavirus cases in India, of which 4,21,066 are active cases.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said lockdown is no solution to slow the spread of coronavirus cases. However, lockdown will only be imposed in Delhi if the "hospital system collapses". Delhi broke all records in the number of Covid-19 cases recorded in a 24-hour span, with 10,774 fresh infections and 48 deaths on Sunday.
