Prime Minister Narendra Modi's total assets grew 52% since 2014. He declared total assets of ₹ 2.51 crore in his affidavit with the Election Commission when he filed his nomination on Friday from Varanasi constituency for the Lok Sabha election. In 2014, he had declared total assets of ₹ 1.65 crore. The Prime Minister's movable assets nearly tripled from ₹ 51 lakh in 2014 to ₹ 1.41 crore this year. He declared immovable assets worth ₹ 1.1 crore on Friday.

The poll panel said that such hoardings and advertisements of govt schemes violate the model code of conduct. It has directed that such hoardings and advertisements should be brought down within 72 hours. The directive came hours after Trinamool complained to EC that the use of the PM's photo on advertisements and Covid vaccination certificates, which are being distributed by the union health ministry are violating the model code of conduct.
