Parvez Parwaz, an activist from UP who filed a case against Yogi Aditynath for alleged hate speech during 2007 Gorakhpur riots, has been given a life imprisonment in a rape case. A district sessions court found Parwaz guilty of raping a woman in June 2018. The woman had accused Parwaz and another person of raping her on the pretext of solving her family problems. People close to the 65-year-old activist have however claimed that he is being falsely implicated because of the case filed by him against the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and 4 others.
