Aug 30, 2021 22:50 IST | By Editorji News Desk

The threat to Kabul airport remains "real" and "specific" as the United States winds down its withdrawal from Afghanistan, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said on Monday.

US Army Major General Hank Taylor said more than 122,000 people have been evacuated from Kabul so far including 5,400 Americans.

Earlier in the day, several rockets were fired at Kabul's airport, reports said quoting witnesses and security sources. This comes less than 48 hours before the United States is due to complete its troop withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Meanwhile A Taliban spokesperson announced that At least 9 members of a family, including children, were killed in a US airstrike in Kabul on Sunday morning. The Taliban condemned the United States for failing to inform them before ordering the strike.
