Over 150 brands back UN for climate change action

May 21, 2020 14:06 IST

More than 150 global brands and companies including Zara, H&M, Burberry and zipper manufacturer YKK corporation have signed the UN 'Better Recovery' statement to urge governments to align post-pandemic economic and relief measures with the latest climate science. The initiative to target a net-zero recovery from Covid-19 is believed to be the largest-ever UN-backed, CEO-led climate advocacy effort. The companies representing over 5 million employees are calling for policies to hold global temperature rise within 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels to be able to reach net-zero emissions well before 2050.
