Taking the study of plants grown in microgravity a step ahead, NASA has now grown radish on board the International Space Station. This could be beneficial for astronauts going to the moon and Mars in the future as they would require a regular supply of fresh food on board. The radish was grown in 'pillows' due to lack of gravity, to evenly spread fertiliser and water. This batch will be ready any day now for harvest and samples will be sent back to Earth for study.
