Opposition show of strength: Hemant Soren sworn-in as CM

Dubbed as ‘Sankalp Diwas’, it was a display of the Opposition’s show of unity as Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Hemant Soren took oath as the eleventh Chief Minister of the state at a mega event in Ranchi. Governor Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Soren at the Morabadi Ground. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, CPM's Sitaram Yechury, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and DMK's MK Stalin were among the many leaders who attended the grand swearing-in ceremony. On Monday, the JMM-Congress-Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance won 47 seats in the 81-seat assembly, well ahead of the majority mark.
