Onion prices continue to soar, hit ₹140/kg in some parts

Onion prices continue to soar across the country and commodity analysts fear things could get worse if supply doesn't pick up. 

In Kolkata, prices climbed to over Rs 100/kg mark, while markets in the south like Chennai and Bengaluru have seen prices spike to as much as Rs 120 - 140 per kg . Delhi NCR has been dealing with a 100 rupee tick for a few weeks now. 

A fall in supply and heavy rainfall in major onion producing states like Maharashtra and Karnataka have been considered the reason for the sharp increase in price.
