In a step closer towards a Covid-19 vaccine, Beijing-based pharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech shares that its human trails have shown positive results. In a press release, the firm claims that the shot is safe and generates an immune response. According to the release, CoronaVac did not cause any severe side effects and almost 90% volunteers administered with it induced neutralising antibodies two weeks after receiving the jab. These preliminary findings are results from phase I and phase II of trials in China, in which 743 healthy volunteers were involved. CoronaVac uses a killed version of the coronavirus and is among the five potential shots in China that have reached the stage of human testing. Phase III of its trial will be conducted in Brazil in partnership with Instituto Butantan.
