Older women at greater risk of 'long Covid': study

Oct 24, 2020 13:19 IST

Women between the age group of 50 to 60 years are at the greatest risk of developing 'long covid', according to a study by King’s College London, which has not been peer reviewed as of now. 'Long Covid' implies the long-lasting health implications that come with the virus. The study also found that older age and experiencing five or more symptoms within the first week of illness heightened the risk of lasting health problems. Researchers believe that the difference in risk factor between men and women could be due to different ways their immune systems responds to the virus.
