NZ players being overlooked at IPL for 2nd rate Aussies: Doull

Feb 23, 2021 17:16 IST

Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull feels that his country has always been overlooked at IPL for second-rate Australians.

His jibe came after India's R Ashwin lauded New Zealand's Devon Conway for his blazing performance against Australia in the first T20I, just days after IPL auctions ended where Conway found no buyers. The 29-year-old smashed an unbeaten 99 in only 59 balls. Praising him, Ashwin tweeted Devon Conway is just 4 days late. But Doull felt it did not matter. He went on to compare the selection of players from Australia and New Zealand and said that since IPL started 94 Aussies participated in the lucrative league at a combined 886cr whereas only 31 NZ players were selected at 212 cr.
