No Ranji trophy? BCCI plans pandemic hit 2021 season

Jan 30, 2021 10:52 IST

For the first time in Indian Domestic cricket history, the iconic Ranji trophy tournament won't take place due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. Since its inception in 1934, this will be the first occasion, when the premier Red-Ball tournament will be missing as the BCCI has decided to go ahead with the 50-overs Vijay Hazare trophy. The BCCI is also going to start women's cricket and host a One-day format tournament for senior women cricketers who have got no game time since Women's T20 challenge on the sidelines of IPL 2020 in the UAE. The final calendar is expected to be released soon by the BCCI as the preparations are underway to restart the rest of the domestic after Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament.
