The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted interim protection from arrest to actor Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel in connection with an FIR registered against them under sedition and other charges, but directed them to appear before Mumbai Police on January 8. The FIR was registered after orders passed by the Bandra magistrate’s court in Mumbai, directing the police to carry out an inquiry against Ranaut and her sister after a complaint was lodged against them for allegedly 'trying to create hatred and communal tension' through their social media posts. Earlier, the sisters were summoned twice, on October 26 and 27 and on November 9 and 10 but they did not appear before the police, saying they were busy with their brother's wedding.
