The Delhi Police on Monday cordoned off a large part of Nizamuddin area after around 200 people, who had attended a religious gathering, started exhibiting Coronavirus symptoms. A religious programme was organised at the mosque on March 18 and more than 500 people from various states had attended the programme; many of whom have since then returned. Making matters worse, coronavirus cases have surfaced in several states linked to this event. A man who died in Tamil Nadu is now believed to have attended the programme while six have tested positive in Andaman, one in Srinagar and one in Guntur. Health authorities in Tamil Nadu are worried about the health status of about 1,500 people in the state, after being exposed to people who attended the Nizamuddin event.
