The Supreme Court of Friday dismissed a plea by Vinay Sharma, who is one of the 4 convicts in the December 2012 gangrape case. Sharma had challenged the rejection of his mercy petition by President Ram Nath Kovind. The court also rejected Sharma's claim that he was mentally unstable. The Apex court added that there was no ground for judicial review of the rejection of mercy petition made by the death row convict. On February 5, the Delhi High Court gave the convicts one week’s time to exhaust all their legal remedies and also rejected the government’s plea to allow them to be executed separately.
