A Delhi court has sought a response from Tihar jail authorities on a plea by Vinay, one of the four death row convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case, seeking better treatment for his so-called mental illness, schizophrenia and physical injuries. According to prison officials, Vinay Sharma injured himself by banging his head on his cell wall in Tihar Jail. Jail officials said, that he had some minor injuries and was already treated inside the prison premises. Vinay Sharma's lawyer meanwhile, told the Court, that he was refusing to recognise people, including his mother. He added that Vinay sustained a grievous head injury, fracture in his right arm and was suffering from 'insanity', 'mental illness' and 'schizophrenia'. The court on February 17 issued fresh death warrants against the four death row convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case for the 3rd of March at 6 am.
