Italian officials said 250 people have died from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, marking a record number of deaths from the illness within such a timespan. Italy is now the worst-affected nation in the world after China, with over 1200 deaths and more than 15,000 confirmed cases since the contagion came to light there on February 21. China on Friday sent a planeload of medical supplies and a team of 9 medical staff to help Italy battle the outbreak.
