New Zealand may shift to a 4-day work week to revive tourism

May 22, 2020 14:29 IST

New Zealand may be shifting to a four-day work week with an attempt to revive tourism in the country. In a Facebook Live video, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern hinted at the plan, saying that it would give New Zealanders more time on their hands to explore their marvellous country. She added that the final decisions rests on the employers and employees but it may give flexibility to the people in terms of leave and travel. Before the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown was imposed, up to 60 percent of all tourists in New Zealand were domestic.
