New study raises debate over duration of Covid-19 immunity

Nov 03, 2020 12:23 IST

Researchers from Britain’s Birmingham University have found that 'cellular immunity' from the Covid-19 infection lasts for 6 months in those who were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms. Researchers further shared that while their results were reassuring, it cannot be assumed that in rare cases people cannot be reinfected again with the virus. The study, which has not been peer reviewed yet, added that more research is needed to confirm anything about Covid immunity. They found that the T-cell responses may outlast the initial antibody response.
