'Laal Singh Chaddha', starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, has witnessed an underwhelming response at the box office. It has failed to surpass the ₹50 crore mark within the first six days of its release. The Advait Chandan film has been in the news over the last few weeks as a section of social media users called for its boycott of Aamir's 2015 statement on 'growing intolerance' in India. Now, R Madhavan has reacted to the latest boycott trend and the comparative success of films from the south.
During the teaser launch of his upcoming film 'Dhokha - Round D Corner' in Mumbai, the actor was asked to comment on the disappointing performance of the recent big-ticket Hindi films, including 'Laal Singh Chaddha'. To which, he responded that nobody starts off thinking that they're making a wrong film. He said the intent, hard work behind the film is just as intense as with every film that an actor works on or doesn't. 
He further stated that the perception that south films are outperforming Hindi movies is wrong as only a handful of films have done well. 
'As far as south films are concerned, Baahubali 1, Baahubali 2, RRR, Pushpa, KGF: Chapter 1 and KGF: Chapter 2 are the only south Indian films that have done better than movies of Hindi film actors. It is only six films, we can't call it a pattern. If good films come, they'll work,' he said. 
Madhvan believes that if good content is given to the audience, they will go and watch films in theatres, regardless of the language. He said Hindi films have failed to create magic in theatres as the preferences of audience has changed in the post-pandemic era. 
'Post COVID-19, people's liking and preferences have changed... So if we make the kind of films that people will watch, with the kind of films that are coming today, we'll have to become a little bit more progressive,' he said.
Madhavan's 'Dhokha – Round D Corner', directed by Kookie Gulati, will release in theatres on September 23.

Ekta Kapoor has come up and shared how she feels about the boycott against Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha. Calling Aamir a ‘Soft Ambassador’, the TV Producer said that all the Khans in the industry are legends especially Aamir Khan’ and that we cannot boycott them.  
Laal Singh Chaddha is directed by Advait Chandan and is an Indian adaptation of the 1994 Hollywood movie Forest Gump. The movie could not cross even Rs 50 crore during the long weekend extended with festival holidays release. The first weekend wrapped up for the movie with a mere Rs 46 crore. 
Ekta expressed her disappointment at boycott of the movie. During the interview with Navbharat Times, she said, ‘It is so strange we are boycotting the very people who have given the best of business in the industry.’ She further added, ‘Aamir Khan can never be boycotted, the soft ambassador Aamir Khan cannot be boycotted." 
Amid the boycott calls against Laa Singh Chaddha, a police complaint was also filed against Aamir Khan, Paramount Pictures (producers) and several others stating that the movie disrespected the Indian Army and Hindu sentiments.  Other than Aamir Khan, the movie also stars Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in the lead roles.

Jacqueline Fernandez has been named as an accused in a supplementary charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the ₹200 crore extortion case against conman Sukesh Chandrashekar, according to Times of India report. However, the actor may not be arrested at the moment as the court is yet to take cognizance of the charge sheet, but she may not be allowed to travel abroad.
Jacqueline has been questioned several times by the ED. According to news agency PTI, the ‘Drive’ actor informed the officials that she was in touch with Sukesh Chandrasekhar since 2017 and that he had told her that he is the owner of Sun TV and belongs to late politician Jayalalithaa’s family. As per PTI, Jacqueline also revealed that her sister took a loan of $1,50,000 from Sukesh and accepted that he transferred around ₹15 lakh to the account of her brother who resides in Australia.
Earlier, the ED attached Jacqueline’s assets worth ₹7 crore, which included the luxury gifts received by her including diamond earrings, bracelets, Birkin bags, Louis Vuitton shoes and a mini cooper car.
In January this year, intimate pictures of Jacqueline and Sukesh were leaked online, which created a strong buzz about the couple being in a relationship.
Chandrasekhar had released a hand written note to confirm their romance and stated, ‘As I have mentioned before, Jacqueline and I were in a relationship. Seeing each other and the relationship was not based on any kind of monetary benefits like the way it is protected, commented and trolled in a bad light. The relationship had lots of love and respect for each other, without any expectations. I have gifted her things and done things for her family, are normal things one would do for his loved one in a relationship. It is personal, I don’t understand why it is being made such a big deal. At the same time I would like to again certain that none of it was 'proceeds of so called crime'. It is all from legitimate earnings and the same would be proved in court of law very soon.’
Jacqueline asked for privacy over the controversy and shared a note on Instagram and said, ‘The country and its people have always given me tremendous love and respect.
