India marks November 26 as National Milk Day. First celebrated in 2014 by the Food and Agriculture Organisation to commemorate Dr. Verghese Kurien, who is believed to be the 'Milkman of India'. It is also his birth anniversary. It was Dr Kurien who helped India develop its own milk producing centres. The day is marked to highlight the benefits and importance of drinking milk in a country which is known to be the largest producer of milk.
