Mysuru 'gangrape' survivor left without recording statement: report

Aug 30, 2021 08:15 IST | By Editorji News Desk

A Mysuru college student, who was allegedly gang-raped on Tuesday at Chamundi Hills, has reportedly left the city with her family, without recording her statement with the police.

Police said the 23-old-woman was unwilling to record her statement, NDTV has reported quoting sources. The report said that the omission weakens the case against the five men the police have arrested.

The police couldn't record her statement earlier as the woman was in shock after the incident, the Karnataka government had said.

The five men arrested include a minor and the police are hunting for a sixth suspect.

The arrests and the First Information Report in the case -- which has triggered outrage in the state -- are based on the complaint filed by the woman's boyfriend, who was beaten up by the assailants on Tuesday evening.
