Modi Mandir push: plea in SC on 'undisputed' land

Jan 29, 2019 11:04 IST

Under pressure from the Hindutva groups on the Ram Mandir issue, the Modi government has moved Supreme Court seeking release of non-disputed 67 acres at Ayodhya for construction of Ram temple. To pacify the RSS and saints raising the Mandir pitch at the Kumbh, Centre has sought court's permission through a writ petition to start construction at the undisputed land on the periphery of the disputed site. The govt has sought a modification of March 2003 judgement to restore 'surplus', land which remains undisputed to its rightful owners the Ram Janambhumi Nyas.
