Microsoft takes action against North Korean hackers

Jan 01, 2020 15:54 IST

US tech giant Microsoft has taken control of 50 web domains which were used by a hacking group called "Thallium" to steal personal information. The company said that the North Korea-based group used phishing emails and fake websites that appear legitimate, but instead compromise users' computers by installing malware. It further added that most of the targets were officials, think tanks and university staff based in the US, and some in Japan and South Korea.
