Amid a spike in new Covid-19 infections in the country, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday issued an order to extend the existing guidelines for surveillance, containment, and caution to remain in force up to March 31.
The govt said, while there has been a substantial decline in the active and new Covid-19 cases, there is a need to maintain surveillance, containment. States/UTs have been advised to speed up the vaccination of the target population.
The MHA order said, containment zones have will be continued to be demarcated carefully, containment measures have to be strictly followed; Covid-appropriate behaviour has to be promoted and strictly enforced, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) must be followed scrupulously.
With more than 16,000 fresh infections for the 2nd consecutive day, the total number of Covid-19 cases in India has reached 1,10,63,491, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday.
