After spending 19 years playing for Barcelona, Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has told his boyhood club that he wants to leave. The Catalan club confirmed to the press that Tuesday that the playmaker has sent a document expressing his desire to leave the Spanish side. The big announcement comes 11 days after Barcelona’s humiliating 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals which was one of the worst defeats in the player’s career and in the club’s history. The defeat also prompted the management to fire manager Quequi Setien and Director of football Eric Abidal. With Barcelona, Messi has won a record six Ballon d'Or awards & has helped the side win 10 Spanish league titles and four Champions League trophies.
