Men are smoking less tobacco for the first time, says WHO

For the first time ever, the number of men consuming tobacco products has stopped rising and has, in fact, declined across the world, says a new report by the World Health Organisation. The report suggests that the governments' efforts to contain the use of tobacco are working. Four out of five tobacco users globally are men. The report covers cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobacco, however, it does not include the impact of vaping devices. The WHO estimates that the number of male tobacco users will decline by more than 1 million in 2020 and by 5 million in 2025. The report also suggests that overall there will be 10 million fewer tobacco users, both male and female, by next year.
